Install the chat on Squarespace
Paste the chat code into Squarespace’s Code Injection, in the footer box, and check that it appears across the whole site.

On Squarespace you install the chat with Code Injection: you paste your agent’s line of code into the footer box and Squarespace adds it before </body> on every page of the site. You paste it once and no page has to be edited.
Before you start
- The agent has to be active. An agent that is a Draft or is Paused does not show the chat even when the code is in place. Switch it on with the Activate button (or Resume, if it was paused) on the agent’s page.
- Your Squarespace plan has to include Code Injection. When this article was written (October 2026), Squarespace did not include it in its most basic plan. If the option is missing or asks you to upgrade, check the Squarespace help.
- You need administrator permission on the site. The site owner has it, and so does a person who has been given that permission.
Copy your agent’s code
In iAgentify, go to Agents and open your agent.
Open the Widget tab and, inside it, Installation.
Under Installation code, press Copy. It is a single line, like this one:
<script src="https://backendiagentify.yarqat.com/widget.js" data-agent="your-agent-key" async></script>
Always copy the one in the app, not the one in this article: yours carries your agent’s public key. There is more detail in install the chat on your website.
Paste it into Code Injection
Go to your Squarespace site’s panel.
Open Code Injection. It is the screen where Squarespace lets you add code to every page of the site, with one box for the header and another for the footer.
Squarespace has moved it more than once. It is usually in the pages panel, at the bottom, in the group of website tools or custom code; in earlier versions it was in the settings, under the developer tools or the advanced options. If you cannot find it, type “code injection” into the panel’s search.
Find the footer box (Footer). Whatever you put in it is added before
</body>on every page.Paste the chat line. If the box already holds other code, paste it on a new line without deleting what is there.
Save the changes.
Check that it works
Open your site in a private browser window. While you are signed in to Squarespace you see the site inside the editor, which may not run the code.
The chat button appears in a bottom corner of the page. Press it.
Type a question. The reply arrives within seconds and the conversation shows up under Conversations, inside the app.
That test is a real conversation: it uses credits and counts in your analytics.
Common problems on Squarespace
- You are looking at it while signed in. While you are editing, Squarespace may switch off the code you have added. Always check in a private window or on another device.
- The option is missing or will not save. Most likely your plan does not include Code Injection. Check it in the Squarespace help.
- You pasted it into the code box of a single page. Each page’s settings have their own code box, in the advanced options. What you put there only applies to that page: use it only if you want the chat on specific pages and not on the whole site.
- You pasted it into a code block inside a page. The chat would only show on that page. Use the site’s Code Injection.
- The code is pasted twice. Nothing breaks: the second copy does nothing. If the two lines belong to different agents, only one is loaded, so keep only the line of the agent you want.
Add your domain to the allowed domains
While the Allowed domains list is empty, any website that copies your line of code can load your chat and use up your credits. Under Agents › your agent › Widget › Installation › Allowed domains, type your site’s domain, press Add and then Save changes. A domain such as yourcompany.com also includes www.yourcompany.com.
If your site does not have its own domain yet and is seen at the address Squarespace gives it, add that full address, for example yourname.squarespace.com. Do not use a wildcard such as *.squarespace.com, which would let any Squarespace site use your chat. At an address that is not on the list the chat does not appear. The details are in limit the chat to your domains.
If the chat does not appear
On Squarespace the most common causes are looking at the site while signed in, or a plan that does not include Code Injection. Then check that the agent is active and that your domain is under Allowed domains. The full list, with how to check each cause, is in the chat does not appear on your website.
