You create an agent under Agents › New agent, in three steps: your business, the tone and languages, and some first knowledge. It takes about three minutes and everything can be changed later.

Before you start

  • An iAgentify account. If you do not have one yet, follow the section create your account and verify your email.
  • A role that can create agents. People with the Member, Admin or Owner role can. Read only cannot.
  • The basics of your business to hand. Your website address and what your customers ask most: opening hours, prices, services, terms.

Create your account and verify your email

  1. Fill in Your name, Work email, Password and Company name. The password needs at least 10 characters, with letters and numbers.

  2. Accept the terms and press Create account and start the trial. No card is asked for.

  3. Open the email we send you and press the link to verify your address. The link is valid for 48 hours. When you open it, “Email verified” appears.

Until you verify your email you can only use part of the trial credits. If the message does not arrive, press Resend email in the notice at the top of the app.

What the trial includes is in the free trial and credits.

Step 1: your business

  1. Go to Agents and press New agent. If you do not have any yet, the button is called Create my first agent.

  2. Type the Agent name. It is how you recognise it in the app and how it introduces itself to your customers.

  3. Check the Business name, which comes filled in with the name of your account, and choose the Industry.

  4. Type your Website. It is optional, but if you add it you can use it in the last step as the first knowledge source.

  5. Type the Business description: what you do, for whom and what sets you apart. It is optional too. The agent uses it to introduce itself and frame its answers.

  6. Press Continue.

Step 2: tone and languages

In this step you choose how the agent speaks, in which languages, and which AI model writes its replies.

ToneHow it sounds
FriendlyWarm and natural, on first-name terms. The most common, and the one selected to begin with
ProfessionalClear and direct, without familiarity
FormalPolite address and careful sentences
CasualRelaxed and colloquial, like a message between acquaintances
EnthusiasticEnergetic and positive, made for selling
  1. Choose the Tone.

  2. Under Languages it answers in, tick your customers’ languages. Spanish comes ticked. A counter shows how many you have chosen and, if your plan has a limit, how many it allows per agent.

  3. If you ticked more than one, choose the Default language: the agent starts in it and falls back to it when it cannot tell the customer’s language.

  4. Leave Detect the customer’s language on so that it answers each customer in the language they write in, among the ones you picked. This option only appears with more than one language.

  5. Under AI model, Automatic is selected: the model iAgentify recommends. If you want a different one, press Choose another model: each one shows how many credits a reply uses.

During the free trial only the lighter models can be chosen. The rest show the notice “Not available during the trial”.

  6. Press Continue.

Step 3: knowledge

This step is optional, but with it the agent answers with your facts instead of generalities.

  1. Web page comes with the address you typed in the first step. Change it or clear it if you prefer another one. Only public content is read.

  2. Leave Also read the linked pages on so that the pages of the same site it links to are read as well, up to your account’s page limit. If that option is not available on your account, only that page is added.

  3. Under Text, paste what your customers ask about and is not on your website: opening hours, prices, services, terms.

  4. Press Create agent.

Later you can add more pages, documents and FAQs from the Knowledge tab: see add knowledge.

After it is created: the three next steps

When you press Create agent, your agent’s page opens. At the top, a panel confirms that it is created and suggests “Three steps to have it answering your customers”:

  1. Add knowledge: shows how many sources were added and how many are ready. If one failed, “Some of the knowledge could not be added” appears with the reason.

  2. Test it: opens the Playground tab, where you ask it what your customers ask and see which sources it uses. See test your agent.

  3. Install it on your website: opens the Widget tab, where you adjust how the chat looks and copy the code. See install the chat on your website.

You can close the panel: the three tabs stay on the agent’s page.

When it starts answering

An agent created from New agent is Active from the first moment, but it is not talking to anyone yet: it answers nobody until you install the chat on your website or connect a channel.

  • On your website: as soon as you paste the chat code into your page.
  • On WhatsApp or Instagram: as soon as you connect the channel from Channels, if it is available on your account. See connect WhatsApp.
  • On any channel: it needs credits. During the trial, verify your email to have all of them.

To fine-tune how it answers, continue with adjust how your agent answers.

If you cannot create the agent

  • “Your plan does not allow more agents” appears. You have reached the number of agents in your plan. Delete one you no longer use, or change plan under Billing.
  • “You do not have access to this section” appears. Your role is Read only. Ask a person on your team with the Member, Admin or Owner role to create the agent.
  • You cannot tick more languages. Your plan limits the languages per agent. Remove one to pick another, or change plan.
  • “Leave without saving?” appears. The agent does not exist until you press Create agent: if you leave before that, what you typed is lost. Press Keep editing to stay.
