Teach your agent with videos

Add a video as a source by pasting its link and its transcript. The agent answers with what is said in it and can send the customer to the exact minute.

Your agent can learn from a video: a tutorial, a recorded class, the presentation of a service. You paste the video's link and its transcript, and the agent answers with what is said in it. If the transcript has times, it can also give the customer the link opened at the minute it is talking about.

iAgentify does not download the video or transcribe it: the text is yours to provide. The agent knows what is said, not what is shown on screen.

Before you start

  • Role. You need to be a Member, an Admin or the Owner.
  • The transcript. Have it at hand as text. On YouTube, below the video, open Show transcript and copy all of it. Subtitle files .srt and .vtt work too (open them in a text editor and copy the content), and so does text without times.
  • It counts as one source of those your plan includes. Adding it uses no credits.

Add the video

  1. Go to Agents, open your agent and select the Knowledge tab.

  2. Press Add source and choose Video.

  3. In Video link, paste the address: YouTube, Vimeo, Loom or any public address. It is the link the agent will give your customers.

  4. In Name, write what it is about in a few words. The agent uses it to know which video each passage belongs to.

  5. In Transcript, paste the text as it comes, with its times if it has them.

  6. In What it is about, which is optional, write a summary in your own words. It helps when a customer asks whether you have a video about something.

  7. Leave The agent may share the link on, or switch it off if the video is internal.

  8. Press Add source. When the status changes to Ready, the agent answers with that video.

What iAgentify does with the transcript

  • It cleans it. It removes the numbering and markup of subtitles, notes such as "[Music]" and the lines automatic captions repeat.
  • It splits it into moments. Each moment is a piece of the video of a size the agent handles well, cut at the end of a sentence when possible and whenever there is a long silence.
  • It notes the minute of each moment. In the source you will see the moments with their range, for example "3:20–5:40".
  • It links each moment to its minute. On YouTube, Vimeo, Loom, Dailymotion and video files, the link opens the video at that point. On other pages, the link goes to the whole video.

If the transcript has no times, the agent learns from what is said just the same, but the link goes to the start of the video.

How the agent answers

When a question is answered by something said in the video, the agent replies in its own words and, if you allow it, adds the link to that minute. It does not describe what is shown on screen and does not invent links: it only uses the one you provided.

Try it in the Playground with a question whose answer is in the video: among the sources used you will see the moment it took it from.

Internal videos

If the video is not for customers (training for your team, for example), switch off The agent may share the link. The agent still answers with what is said in it, but does not give the address. You can change this whenever you like; there is no need to index again.

Correcting or changing a video

Open the source and press Edit. The transcript appears split into moments, each with its minute in front, for example [3:20]. You can correct the text there or paste a new transcript. When you save, the agent keeps answering with the previous version until the new one has been indexed.

If you only change the name or the link, the moments are kept exactly as they were.

Limits

  • Only what is said. If the video shows something without explaining it, the agent does not know it. Add it in What it is about or in a Text source.
  • Quality depends on the transcript. Automatic captions get names and figures wrong: check prices, opening hours and proper names.
  • A very long video. If the app says the transcript is too long, split the video into parts and add each one as its own source.
  • It does not update by itself. If you change the video, change the transcript too.
